The Ancona School is an exciting, intimate and innovative Montessori inspired learning community. Located in Chicago’s historic Hyde Park-Kenwood neighborhood, Ancona has been educating independent learners and thinkers since its founding as a Montessori preschool in 1962. Today’s Ancona serves over 250 children of diverse backgrounds from across Chicago. Ancona instills a genuine love of learning aligned with our philosophy that the gifts we share with children will last a lifetime.
Parents undertake a very special responsibility when they look for the right school for their child. We have designed our admissions process to give both parents and the school the information needed to determine whether Ancona is the right match for your child and your family. We are available to assist you and offer our best guidance throughout the process.
Most Ancona students enter into the Montessori preschool when they are three years old. We encourage families to apply, however, at any grade, and students are considered for admission insofar as space allows.
