Ancona has a long history and strong culture of volunteerism. Volunteers support our classrooms and teachers as well as community events and activities to help create and maintain a sense of joy and community.
From becoming a parent ambassador, to field trips, to school events, we've got something for everyone. Time commitments range from all (school) year support to day-of activities, arranged to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Volunteers serve as leader/main point of contact for your classroom/advisory. Organizes the classroom pot luck dinners; coordinates communications with parents; recruits parents to volunteer for activities that the classroom/advisory/multilevel engages in, and volunteer as needed; promote the Annual Fund; and serve as a booster for all things Ancona by attending events at the school or on behalf of the school. Orientation, plus four meetings a year – two in the fall and two in the spring.
Volunteers will join our Outdoor Learning Educator in the Ancona Farm working on building our green space and planting and growing fabulous things in our garden. Selected weekend mornings or weekday afternoons/early evenings – weather permitting.
Volunteer Opportunities - Partial School Year Commitments
Volunteers support the admissions office in welcoming parents, sharing your Ancona experience and conducting tours with prospective parents. Admissions Open Houses are held monthly from October – January, plus an additional event in April.
Volunteers prepare drills or activities for practice, schedules and facilitates practice, assists with creating rosters and/or game plans, communicates with Room Parents assigned to Athletics/P.E. and with parents in general as necessary.
Volunteer Opportunities - Single to Multi-Day Commitments
Volunteers will assist with registration, route wayfinder, help with the mini-run for the younger children, set up, dishing out ice cream, assist with activities, help with volunteer/Ancona Parent Connection sign up, and clean up.
Volunteers support the functions of the book fair: set-up/breakdown, cashier, stock inventory, assists the Library Room Parent with recruiting volunteers, create/hang signs promoting the fair throughout the school.
Volunteers help with the rehearsal performance the day before as well as various tasks the day of to help the day run smoothly, such as set-up (the night before and the day of), registration, queuing up the students for the performance, decor, setting up the gym for lunch, guiding the grandparents around the building, clean up.
