About Us

Location

The Ancona School is located in the Hyde Park-Kenwood Historic District on Chicago’s South Side. Known for its tree-lined streets, green spaces, architectural variety, and racial, ethnic, and economic diversity, our neighborhood is a celebrated part of Ancona's history and identity.
Ancona's location also serves as a key asset for student learning, providing a framework for exploring independence in developmentally scaffolded ways. From preprimary walks to science lessons at the Burnham Nature Sanctuary, from ice skating on the Midway to navigating the CTA on field trips, our neighborhood and our city are natural extensions of Ancona's classrooms and school community.
