Aftercare
From dismissal until 5:45 p.m. each day, Aftercare and the Middle School Lounge provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn and play in a less structured program than that of the school day. Students are dismissed from their classrooms into the Commons, where our activity facilitators provide leadership and instruction that fosters creativity and offers avenues for self-expression through planned activities.
Enrichment offerings rotate throughout the year and have included cooking, chess, music lessons, dance, hands-on engineering challenges, animation, and drone flight — taught by our own faculty and by partners from across Hyde Park and Chicago.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is Ancona's answer to before-school care. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., Breakfast Club is available for students of all ages and includes a nutritious breakfast — often made by the students themselves.
Ancona Extra
Days off for students don't necessarily mean days off for parents and caregivers. That's where Ancona Extra comes in. Ancona Extra offers robust, full-day childcare on parent-teacher conference days, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Complimentary drop-in is available on conference days for the duration of your child's conference. Students staying beyond that time are registered for the full day.

Ancona Extended Fees
Visit the Tuition & Fees page for the current Ancona Extended fee structure, including Aftercare, Breakfast Club, and Ancona Extra.Families may bundle a set number of Aftercare or Breakfast Club days per week into their tuition payments through the enrollment contract. Beginning in 2026–27, Aftercare drop-in tickets are no longer sold in advance; days beyond a family's contracted number are billed as an incidental charge in Clarity at the drop-in rate, with a notification sent for each charge. To add or change contracted days, email the Business Office at business_office@anconaschool.org. -
Late Pick-Up Fee
Aftercare and the Middle School Lounge officially end at 5:45 p.m., with a 15-minute grace period. After 6 p.m., families are charged $2.50 per minute per student. -
